Wini Paul
Surf Coach

Kia Ora my name is Wini Paul and I love surfing!!

I grew up in Sandy Bay on the Tutukaka coast and have been surfing my whole life before I could even walk. Surfing has been my biggest passion so far and has taken me to many exotic places around the world. Whether I am competing in a international surf contest or out in the weekend with friends surfing gives me so much energy and joy. Being in the ocean everyday is always a different experience that keeps me thinking and learning from the various challengers it throws at me.

This is one of the reasons I love coming out to Pataua to do surf lessons with the Surfpad crew. Being able to share my passion and helping others enjoy the ocean in a safe way is really inspiring for me and I hope that I can inspire others to love and respect the ocean as much as us at Pataua Surf Pad do!

See ya in the surf

Eli Morrogh

My name is Eli Morrogh. I'm from a town in the far north in New Zealand called Ahipara, which is famous for its many surf breaks scattered around Tauroa Point or better known as Shipwreck Bay. I've been lucky enough to grow up and live there for the past 20 years and experience all kinds of great waves. Some of my interests include rugby, gaming, teaching and obviously, surfing! I am currently a full time student at AUT, studying Sport and Recreation on the Northshore of Auckland. It's unfortunate that I won't be able to surf my home break for awhile but I'm looking forward to the challenge of University, a chance to better my future and getting out to find some new waves. My first experience as a surf instructor (other than teaching little cousins) came when Diana contacted me through her Brother.

I arrived at the Pataua Surfpad to find an awesome town right on the coast with pumping waves and with the nearest city about 30 minutes away, I felt right at home. The school we taught was Epsom Girls year 10's and the thought of teaching 400 girls can be both daunting and exciting for a 16 year old boy but Di made sure everything was done very professionally. Soon after, I gained my level One NSA Surf Intructors certifcate which allows me to teach locally and internationally. Four years later, Di has (almost) put me in charge of running her week long Epsom Girls surf camp and made me a part of several other camps for schools of all ages. The experiences I've gained from working for the Surfpad have giving me the best job I've ever had and so much confidence in teaching and public speaking which has sparked my interest in a career in those areas.

I would highly recommend the Surfpad and Pataua as an ideal and very enjoyable experience to any person of any age who wants to learn to surf. Shaka braaaaah!!
